Berry Nieve

logo & branding

Berry Nieve is a vegan ice cream brand I created as a personal project. This is not a real brand. Nieve's literal translation is "snow," but many Spanish speakers use the word to describe "ice cream." This is the reasoning behind naming the brand "Berry Nieve."

I feel the ice cream shelfs are lacking in delicious, natural fruit flavors. Berry Nieve’s staple flavors are currently raspberry and blackberry. In addition to the focus on natural flavoring, Berry Nieve is 100% vegan.

The sketch versions of the berries

I began the project by deciding what flavors I wanted to make. I eventually decided on raspberry and blackberry being the main two flavors. This is because of the obscurity of the flavors in the ice cream isle. In order to get the consumers attention, I utilized bright, eye-catching colors.

The biggest challenge of the project was the ice cream cap. I wanted it to be similar, but not a exact copy of the logo. I ended up increasing the size of the berry and reducing the opacity as to show off the logo more. I then added a drop shadow to further bring out the text.

Utilizing a mixture of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, I created the logo and illustrated the berries.  The goal of the project was to create a funky, eye-catching brand out of flavors that you would not typically see. I did this with the colors, fonts, and overall aesthetic.

This project gave me great insight in how package design works, with creating items that gain attention and are different than other products on the shelves. I hope to one day be apart of a real package design team to further my skills.
